Nancy is re-doing her bathroom. It will be a fun one to see before and afters of- as she is totally changing the style. I am here, of course, to tell her what to do. :) Nancy is changing from a country/traditional look to a more modern, fun feel. Her bath is shown below:

Her sink is the first thing I am selecting. I really like the one at the top of the post. You can find it here. I LOVE the rough edge. I love the classic lines. I love how it is more contemporary styling, but not so modern that it would look odd in their California home. It might be more that she wants to spend. BUT- in a small bathroom like this, it is ALL about the sink. - I say- that is the place to splurge :) Still- just in case she wants to spend less-
I also like the sink below- from The Home Depot:

The sink below is also from the Home Depot- I love this look:
C

I will let her select a sink- then we will find a mirror to go with it.
I plan for her to replace her over mirror lighting with two sconces, and subsidize with a couple of can lights. But- first things first- Nancy needs to select the sink- which will drive the other selections. S0 - A,B or C- which should she choose?- I have added a "D" below- as per Nancy's comment- she was considering the pedestal sink below- let's have a vote- see the sidebar- sink A, B, C, or D. Let's see if Nancy is swayed at all by popular opinion :)

Hands down, A!
Restoration Hardware's Hutton collection is super nice too.
A is the best, but if it's wayyyyyy out of her budget, i also like C.
I like "A" best, especially the wood, but I gasped when I saw the price. Then I scrolled down to the bottom of the page and saw that it was much more affordable. We have to see how much the shower will cost before deciding! I like "B" but not "C." Here's a link for another one I like:
http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100400605
It's a lot plainer, but I like that it hides the plumbing.
Thanks Christine, this is so much fun!
Oops, ignore my last post about the price of sink "A." The lower price at the bottom of the page was just for the stand. Yikes! Michal is right; it is way over my budget. Too bad -- it really is pretty.
I just asked my five year old daughter- she likes the top one. :)
I do like the style, but my problem with all of them is there is nor real counter top to place things, like if you are putting make up on, or blow dryer, flat iron, etc. I also have a problem with the pipes showing. How do you hide that?
Hi Kim W,
At first I thought you were my sister :)
Let me start by saying that, although I really like these sinks, they are not the style I would suggest for a master bathroom. I think they are perfect for a powder/ guest bath.
The open look has a much lighter visual weight, giving the room more space, and thus a feeling of luxury and style.
In Nancy's case, the bathroom is currently being used by two teenage boys, but the boys are older, and she is sure they will move out soon :) Being boys- at least there is no flat iron or make-up. We will add some nice looking storage for spare rolls of TP and towels. We will also have the mirror be a medicine cabinet for toothbrushes and hair gel.
The pipes? I don't know what to say other than they don't bother me. If the pipes were rusty or moldy, or gross, yes- that would not be recommended- but a nice silver curve of a sink pipe- doesn't bother me a bit. MANY current sink styles have this feature- and I think maybe I have seen so many that I don't even notice it- nor does it bug me when I do see it. It's a little like the first time I went into a large restraunt and they didn't have a dropped ceiling, but rather had exposed pipes an dair ducts.- You notice it more at the begining, but now it has become so common that it is hardly noticed, and looks "cool", and defintely adds a different "airy" atmosphere by having such a high ceiling. Exposed sink pipes- same thing.
When we do this bathroom, it actually will be just a guest bath. So I'm not concerned about storage like I would be if people were showering in there every day. The pipes on the sinks above wouldn't bother me, but under my sink it's a whole different story. I'm sure we could change out the big fat black drain pipe for a nice silver curve pipe, but there are also two faucets, one for cold and one for hot, to the left of the drain pipe. I'm hoping we don't have to go with a cabinet sink. I do really like the open look. I prefer a lot of visual space.
