First of all I love your blog! I signed up today. It is so kind of you to offer your professional help. I really need your help before I make anymore expensive mistakes.
1. Master Bedroom: I purchased expensive Charisma duvet set and painted my room taupe. I HATE IT. It is so blah and I don't know what to
do. I just purchased mirrors over the nightstands and the lamps. They still have the tags on them if you think they need to go. My headboard presents a problem when trying to hang anything over the bed. I just don't know what to do to pull this together. Should I just give up and get new bedding? I know I need draperies as well just can't proceed with that untill I decide where to go with my bedding. Your direction is greatly appreciated.

Hi Kelli,
You have a lot going right with your bedroom. Everything blends together very well so far. I don't think you have made any big mistakes. With that said- It is a bit on the boring side. :) You are lacking some contrast and dimension. I can't see all of your walls- but what I do see is three mirrors. I selected a nice big piece of art for you. It is at the top of the post- artist Grace Feyock. It is 70 x 48. Do you have a wall on the other side of the room for that? If not- you can get rid of the mirror over the dresser. I still want more interest in your room- So let's add it!
- Replace the hardware on your furniture- the white wash look is hot- but those handles are not. :)
- Add crown moulding.
- Wallpaper the room. This paper below is from Ronald Redding, 18 Karat. This will add interest and color.

- Add some drapes. Floor to ceiling panels. I would do a silk or velvet- Matching the silvery taupe - or match the wallpaper would be beautiful.
- Add a rug. The one below is from Homedecorators.com- get a large 8 x 10- have part of it under the bed. This will add luxury and contrast.

Hey Kelli- there you go- don't forget "greenery"- In your case I would go with some twiggy things in the corner in a cool large vase with an uplight- and a floral arrangement on the dresser. Of course- you didn't give me a budget- so maybe we should just replace your bed with the beautiful one below from Patina:
There. You will sleep like a princess. :) How great is that? :)

I like the ideas, especially replacing the hardware and crown molding. Adding some more texture with the rug and drapes will really help too. My grandma was an interior designer and preaches texture all the time.
Thanks so much for the great ideas! Do you have a specific kind of replacement hardware in mind?
Hi again Christine,
My husband says no wallpaper! What can I do with paint? It is SW Totally Taupe now. I want to get rid of the mirrors behind the nightstands, can you see artwork there? The headboard makes it difficult to hang anything over it. I would love to get the beautiful Patina bed but that isn't in by budget right now.
Go with a paint color that picks up the accent in your bedding- is it a silvery blue? That's what it looks like. Or- let your husband know he needs to get with it and let you wallpaper. :)
