This room will be fun to see the "after" pictures of. The pink and orange is cute for a little girl. I have 2 girls myself and have made their crib bedding. Quilts are not hard to sew, especially the design by pottery barn (pictured). Just pick your perfect fabric.

On the practical side, your sheets and bumper will be washed over and over and over again. I had the really cute stuff for baby #1 and the oh, so practical white for baby #2. They both have beautiful quilts though!

PS I am painting my living room and just finished my last coat tonight. How I wish carrying out your suggestions was as easy as reading them and dreaming.... :)

I think it would look great to have hot pink furniture IF: Your walls that it meets up to are white, AND, your bedding is not a big solid bright pink or orange. The idea of having bright colored furniture reminds me of one of my favorite lines of furniture, "Maine Cottage". It is a really fun look, but just keep it toned down in other areas.

If you keep the "mural" more of a background, rather than a scene, like a landscape of some sort, it would be fine to have a shelf with your desorations on it. Maybe keep the background of the mural a color that would CONTRAST with your pink and orange, so your pink and orange items would stand out. You can still have pink and orange, (and I suggest you do) in the mural, but in smaller doses.

I love the mural above the shelf idea! Would it be too much though, if I put things on the shelf (decorative suitcases, art, pig, etc)? Having seen the furniture, you don't think it would be too much painted hot pink? That thrills me. As far as furniture and space, yes, it will probably be an issue, I do hope to have as little in her room as possible. The furniture is a set which Would like to keep together but I am thinking of putting the taller dresser in the closet with my existing closet organizers (I love them too) around it. I like the idea of white up to the shelf a lot, it will help everything else stand out. I like the quilt and the rug, but don't love them, so I'm still on the perfect search for those, but your ideas were so helpful, I feel like I'm heading in the right direction now. I'm interested to see any comments from others too and their thoughts. I have to say, when I originally emailed I thought if you did answer it would be forever, I was amazed to get your email this morning! Thanks so much Christine!
